Your Advantage - A Modern Vehicle FleetWhen we started operating in 2001, Lokomotion leased modern electric locomotives of class ES 64 U2 ("Taurus") which ran to the Brenner where RTG locos of class EU 43 then took over. Changing locos at the Brenner with the resultant loss of time and other operating difficulties were also a day-to-day occurrence for us. When in 2004 the first multi-system locomotives of class ES 64 F4 (class 169) became available on the leasing market, it was Lokomotion and RTC who went together to the manufacturers and leasing companies in order to remove the technical and administrative hurdles to the use of interoperable motive power between Germany and Italy. Since 2005 a large number of our trains have now been running with only a crew change across the electrification system border between Austria and Italy, which minimises the border stopping times and eases the course of the operation. At the present time, Lokomotion and RTC use a total of ten class 189 locomotives of their own in transalpine traffic. A further class in our pool of interoperable locos is the class 186 Bombardier-Traxx-Locomotive, which we have been running as a leased locomotive in our stock since 2009. The number of these in use can vary according to requirements and amounts to approximately ten locomotives. Since 2004 we have been using locomotives of the well-proven class 139. Currently six of these locomotives are serviceable and in use in Germany and Austria. For traffic from Munich to Ljubljana and vice versa we work with Slovenian State Railways SZ to employ their modern multi-system class 541 locomotives ("Taurus 3") all the way between Ljubljana and Bishofshofen or Munich respectively. The through working of locomotives from Slovenia to Germany and vice versa was an important outcome of our participation in the EU "CREAM" project. For special and project traffic, siding traffic and the "last mile", Lokomotion owns one medium-sized class 212 diesel locomotive and a class 333 shunter. Lokomotion and RTC are proud to have worked right from the start in collaboration with loco manufacturers, leasing firms, infrastructure operators and licensing authorities on the improvements of conditions of use and technical parameters of their vehciles. The results thereby achieved are of benefit not only to our customers but to the entire rail system.
